General information 1.2 Notational conventions This manual uses the following notational conventions: Letterings The letterings for connectors and controls are marked by square brackets and italics. Examples: [VOLUME] control, [Mono] button. Displays Texts and values displayed on the device are marked by quotation marks and italics. Examples: ‘24ch’ , ‘OFF’ .

Safety instructions 2 Safety instructions Intended use This device is used to control electrically operated chain hoists. The device is designed for pro‐ fessional use only and is not suitable for use in households. Use the device only as described in this user manual. Any other use or use under other operating conditions is considered to be improper and may result in personal injury or property damage. No liability will be assumed for damages resulting from improper use.
Safety instructions DANGER! Electric shock caused by high voltages inside Within the device there are areas where high voltages may be present. Never remove any covers. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not use the device if covers, protectors or optical components are missing or damaged. DANGER! Electric shock caused by short circuit Always use a properly insulated CEE cable to connect the unit to the 400 V mains grid. Do not modify the CEE cable or the CEE plug.
Safety instructions NOTICE! Operating conditions This device has been designed for indoor use only. To prevent damage, never expose the device to any liquid or moisture. Avoid direct sunlight, heavy dirt, and strong vibrations. Only operate the device within the ambient conditions specified in the chapter ‘Technical specifications’ of this user manual.

Installation 4 Installation 4.1 Mechanical installation Unpack and check carefully there is no transportation damage before using the unit. Keep the equipment packaging. To fully protect the product against vibration, dust and moisture during transportation or storage use the original packaging or your own packaging material suitable for transport or storage, respectively. Make sure that the installation complies with the standards and rules that apply in your country.
Installation 4.2 Electrical installation DANGER! Hazardous voltage Hazardous voltage may be present at cable ends and screw terminals. The connection of screw terminals as well as all maintenance and repair work on the electrical installation of the device must only be performed by qualified elec‐ trical personnel in volt-free condition. Failure to do so may result in electric shock and risk of fire and loss of life.
Installation Pin assignment The table and figure show the assignment of the 16-pin multi-pin industrial connector. The connections for the protective earth conductor ([PE]) of the connector must be connected to the protective earth conductors of the connected motors.
Starting up 5 Starting up CAUTION! Risk of injury due to moving loads If people are in the work area, the loads moved by the electric chain hoists can cause injury. While the loads are moved, nobody may be in the work area of the electric chain hoists. For persons staying under suspended loads, observe the regulations in force in your country. NOTICE! Damage due to change of direction Changing the direction of movement during operation may damage the device.
Starting up NOTICE! Damage due to pulsed operation Repeated, momentary presses of the [RUN] button can damage the device and the connected electric chain hoists. Always press [RUN] for at least several seconds. Starting up the device 1. Make sure the following: n Nobody stays in the work area of the electric chain hoists. n The workspace is free of obstacles. n You have a clear view of the entire work area and can completely monitor the move‐ ment process.

Connect the device to the power supply. ð The indicator lights [L1], [L2], [L3] for the three phases of the power supply light up. The device must not be used if not all three indicator lights light up. 6.

Troubleshooting 10 Troubleshooting In the following we list a few common problems that may occur during operation.
Troubleshooting Symptom Remedy The electric chain hoists do not respond when [RUN] is pressed. 1. Check the wiring to the electric chain hoists. 2. Check whether the assigned rotary switch is in ‘UP’ or ‘DOWN’ position. 3. Check that the circuit breaker is in ‘ON’ position. 4. If the emergency stop button is pressed and locked: Make sure that the reason for pressing the switch is no longer present and turn it clockwise to the operating position. The device does not respond at all. 1.

Protecting the environment 11 Protecting the environment Disposal of the packaging mate‐ rial For the transport and protective packaging, environmentally friendly materials have been chosen that can be supplied to normal recycling. Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc. are properly disposed of. Do not just dispose of these materials with your normal household waste, but make sure that they are collected for recycling. Please follow the notes and markings on the packaging.
