BOSS GX-100
The default action for the
C2 footswitch is to call up the
tuner, but a press-and-hold
will toggle between Memory
and Manual modes
23 AIRD (Augmented Impulse Response
Dynamics) amplifiers and more than
150 effects. There are 300 memory slots
onboard, 100 of which hold factory presets,
while the other 200 are user memories to
save your own creations. Any one of these
patches can have up to 15 blocks in a chain
in any order, and there are options for
creating parallel chains as well as serial.
The unit has extensive MIDI
implementation, plus a USB connection
for using it as an audio interface and for
connecting to the editing software (Boss
Tone Studio for Mac OS and Windows).

oss launched the flagship GT-1000
back in 2018 and, although we’ve
had the GT-1000Core in the
meantime, it feels like its time for a new
model in the GT range. It’s now here, only
this time it’s got a GX prefix. While in

Looks like a new Boss GT
multi-effects processor
It sounds and functions like one, too,
but this is a GX unit, rather than a GT.
Why GX?
Well, Boss already has a GT-1000.
The GX represents a move forward
because it’s the first Boss floorboard
with a touchscreen, so why not
move on up the alphabet?
Isn’t a touchscreen just a gimmick?
Absolutely not. We’re all used to
touchscreens now with mobile
devices and this sort of unit really
benefits from having one. It’s much
more intuitive than data wheels and
cursors, and makes short work of
the editing process.
