Should the bit become bound or jammed in the work, the reaction torque of the tool could crush your hand or leg. If the bit becomes bound in the workpiece, release the trigger immediately, reverse the direction of rotation and slowly squeeze the trigger to back out the bit. Be ready for a strong reaction torque.

The low RPM capability of this model is not a deficiency. On the contrary, low speed means high torque and high torque is a definite plus for efficient drilling and driving. The low speed also provides more control to prevent stripout of the screw and damage to the work surface.

During the operation, hold the tool firmly and exert light, steady pressure. Too much pressure at low speed will stall the tool. Too little pressure will keep the bit from cutting and cause excess friction by sliding over the surface. This can be damaging to both tool and bit.

First, the harder the material, the greater the pressure you need to apply to the tool. Second, the harder the material, the slower the speed. Here are a couple of tips for drilling in metal. Lubricate the tip of the bit occasionally with cutting oil except when drilling soft metals such as aluminum, copper or cast iron.
