GAI-Tronics' Hazardous Area Telephones utilize an "intrinsically safe" design; this
configuration limits the power to the telephone to a low-enough level that a
hazardous condition cannot occur. These telephones are significantly less expensive,
more feature-rich and easier to maintain than older explosion proof designs.

The Tough Phone was developed for public and industrial areas requiring a virtually
indestructible telephone. Each Tough Phone is housed in a 1/4 in. thick, sand-cast
aluminum enclosure, coated with an exterior polyurethane finish. Standard
equipment includes a spring-return door, 15 in. lanyard armored cord resistant up to
800 lb. of pull strength and chrome-plated keypad and proximity hookswitch. The
Model 233-001 tamper-resistant screwdriver is required for installation.
