- to reduce the risk of a grease fire:
- a. Never leave surface units unattended at high settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite. Heat oils slowly on low or medium settings.
- b. Always turn hood ON when cooking at high heat or when flambéing food (i.e. Crêpes Suzette, Cherries Jubilee, Peppercorn Beef Flambé).
- c. Clean ventilating fans frequently. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan or filter.
- d. Use proper pan size. Always use cookware appropriate for the size of the surface element.
- WARNING
- TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS IN THE EVENT OF A GREASE FIRE, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING:
- a. SMOTHER FLAMES with a close-fitting lid, cookie sheet, or metal tray, then turn off the burner. BE CAREFUL TO PREVENT BURNS. If the flames do not go out immediately, EVACUATE AND CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.
- b. NEVER PICK UP A FLAMING PAN – You may be burned.
- c. DO NOT USE WATER, including wet dishcloths or towels – a violent steam explosion will result.

- Utilisation sécuritaire de l'électroménager alimenté au gaz :

- pour réduire le risque d’un feu de friture :
- a. Ne jamais laisser la surface de cuisson sans surveillance à des températures élevées. Les débordements causent de la fumée et les résidus graisseux peuvent s'enflammer. Faire chauffer lentement les huiles à feu doux ou moyen.
- b. Toujours ALLUMER la hotte lors de la cuisson à température élevée ou pour flamber certains plats (c.- à-d., crêpes Suzette, cerises Jubilé, steak au poivre flambé).
- c. Nettoyer régulièrement les ventilateurs. Ne pas laisser la graisse s'accumuler sur le ventilateur ou sur le filtre.
- d. Utiliser des casseroles de taille appropriée. Toujours utiliser des récipients adaptés à la taille de la surface de cuisson.

Maintenance
▯ Never slide pans across the glass surface, as you may
scratch it. In addition, try not to drop heavy or sharp
objects on the glass. Never strike any part of the
cooktop.
▯ Grains of sand that may come from cleaning fruits and
vegtables will scratch the glass surface.
The appliance requires only regular cleaning for proper
operation. No other maintenance is required.

Control knobs and grom-
mets
▯ Nonabrasive Cleaner: Dish soap and
hot water.
▯ Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
NOTICE: Do not remove the control knobs
when cleaning the appliance. The appli-
ance may be damaged if moisture finds its
way inside.
▯ Do not soak knobs or grommets.
▯ Do not use abrasive scrubbers or clean-
ers, such as Bon Ami®, Ajax®, or
Comet®. They may permanently dam-
age the finish or remove graphics.

Do not remove grommets or white
rings as they will require Customer
Service to refit and the cooktop must
not be used without all parts fitted
correctly.
Grates and grate bridge /
porcelain enamel on cast
iron
▯ Nonabrasive cleaners: Hot water and

Rinse and dry immediately.
▯ Mild Abrasive Cleaners: Bon Ami
®
and
Soft Scrub
®
.
▯ Stubborn Stains: Use soap-filled steel
wool pads.
▯ You may also clean the burner grates in
the dishwasher. Remove any burnt-on
food prior to placing the burner grates
in the dishwasher. Place them on the
lowest rack of dishwasher and use the
dishwasher manufacturer’s recom-
mended detergent.
▯ The grates are heavy; use care when lift-
ing. Place on a protected surface for
cleaning.
▯ Blisters/ crazing/ chips are common
due to the extreme temperatures on
grate fingers and rapid temperature
changes.
▯ Acidic and sugar-laden spills deteriorate
the enamel. Remove soil immediately
after unit has cooled enough to touch.
▯ Abrasive cleaners, used too vigorously
or too often can eventually mar the
enamel.
▯ Do not clean in a self-cleaning oven.
Igniters / ceramic
▯ Carefully wipe with a cotton swab damp-
ened with water, ammonia or Formula
409
®
.
▯ Gently scrape soil off with a toothpick.
▯ Avoid excess water on the igniter. A
damp igniter will prevent burner from
lighting.
▯ Remove any lint that may remain after
cleaning.
Glass surfaces
▯ Nonabrasive Cleaner: Dish soap and
hot water.
▯ Rinse and dry immediately.
▯ Always clean off any liquid as soon as it
is spilt. This will prevent food remains
from sticking to the cooktop surface and
you will save yourself any unnecessary
effort.
▯ Melted sugar, or foods which contain a
lot of sugar which may have spilt,
should be cleaned off the cooking zone
immediately, using the glass scraper.
▯ Avoid abrasive cleaners such as metal
scouring pads, scrub sponges, soap-
filled scouring pads and powder clean-
ers.
