 Axis Setup Notes 
1.  Please see section 8 of the LPM service manual for important tips for taking the 
4
th
 axis unit on and off of the machine when not in use. The 4
th
 axis unit and ball 
lock plate weighs about 250 lbs so please use a lift to remove the unit from the 
machine. This plate can be removed by sliding it onto a LPM fixture cart. The 4
th
axis unit also comes with an eyebolt that can be used for lifting purposes. You 
will also need to disconnect a power cable and air line before removing the unit. 
2.  The 4
th
 axis comes with a standard 3 jaw chuck and adaptor plate. If you need to 
remove this chuck, please see the service manual for instructions. It should be 
noted that the adaptor plate and chuck will need to be trammed in when it is put 
back on. 
3.  The tailstock ball lock plate has been designed so you can mount the tailstock in 
different locations along the plate’s length. (2) 5/8-11 bolts are used to fasten the 
tailstock down to the ball lock plate.
