15.4.3 ENGRAVE 4 AXIS
The 4
th
axis engrave event assumes that you have cylindrical stock, and want to engrave
along the surface.
X BEGIN – Defines the starting point on the X axis for the text to be engraved. See
figure 15.3.3, and note that even though both radial and axial have the same XA starting
point, they span across different areas along the X axis.
A BEGIN – Defines the angle for the starting point of the text to be engraved. See figure
15.3.3 for a visual of both radial and axial text that have the same XA starting point.
Z END – Determines the depth at which the engraving will take place. This distance will
be the radius of the part, assuming you have a cylinder stock.
HEIGHT – Defines of the height of the letters, if they were unwrapped onto a flat
surface.
AXIAL / RADIAL – Determines which direction the text will wrap around your
cylindrical part. See figure 15.4.3.
