12.1.2 Tool Loading Table
ATC Loc – This box displays the ATC location the given tool is residing in.
Tool # - This displays the tool # this tool has been assigned in your program.
Diameter – This displays the diameter of your cutting tool.
Type – This displays the description of the cutting tool (ie: center drill).
Z Offset – This displays the difference in length between the cutting tool and the base
tool supplied by SWI. A positive offset would mean a longer tool, and a negative offset
would indicate a shorter tool.
Z Mod – This feature adjusts tool position in the Z axis. This is to aid the operator in
getting the workpiece to proper dimensions or to accommodate for tool wear. This can
also be used as a troubleshooting guide. The values in Z Mod should be small. If the
values become large (ie: greater than .01” -.02”), this could be an indication that there is
something wrong with the set-up of the tool and/or workpiece.
Dia Mod – This feature adjusts the tool diameter. In order to get proper workpiece
dimensions (ie: pocket width, wall thickness etc.), adjustments can be made by putting
values in this column. Also, if a part was programmed utilizing a specific diameter tool
such as .5”, and the tool being used has been ground to .480” for sharpening, the
operator would not have to modify the program if he inserted a value of -0.020” in this
column.
Action – This column will display REMOVE or ADD as necessary when you need to
remove and add tools to the ATC. The blue cursor box moves up and down this column
so you can select what action you want to take place.
The data input line shows “ATC LOCATION” which displays the ATC location you are
on as you move the blue cursor up and down this column.
The row in the Tool Loading table that is currently in the spindle will be highlighted in
GREEN. When the spindle is empty, there is no green bar.
12.1.3 REMOVE TOOL
REMOVE TOOL is used to permanently remove a tool from the ATC. The REMOVE
TOOL prompt is invoked when you press the remove tool button in the tool management
screen in program setup. To remove a tool, highlight the tool you want to remove with
the blue cursor box and press remove tool. A message box will appear on the screen
when this button is pressed. The door must be closed to initiate all tool changes. Once
the tool is placed in the spindle you can now open the door and remove the tool from the
spindle by pressing the green button on the head. After this, all the tool info is removed
from the ATC location, and another tool can be added in its place.
