Using Your VX-710C as a Wireless Manual Slave
The VX-710C is equipped with a wireless (optical) manual slave function, allowing you to re the ash
remotely. Using the optical slave feature, the VX-710C can be set to re whenever it detects a signal from the
master ash. This works optically—when the VX-710C sees another ash ring, it will instantaneously re
along with it.
Important terms: Here are the terms you’ll need to be familiar with in order to learn how to work with multiple
wireless ash units:
Master: This can be any ash that is triggered by the camera, such as a built-in or hot-shoe mounted ash.
The master controls how the slave ashes operate in wireless mode. Only one master ash is allowed in a
multiple-ash photography setting.
Slave or remote ash: Flash units that are not directly connected to the camera and are controlled via the
master ash or a controller are called slave or remote units. There is no limitation on the number of slave ash
units that can be used at once.
