Disengage rubber strap 2 and
remove small heat shield 3.
Push back cover 1 of the bat-
tery's positive terminal.
Disconnection in the wrong
sequence increases the risk
of short-circuits.
Always proceed in the correct
sequence.
Disconnect negative lead 2
first.
Then disconnect positive
lead 3.
Disconnect breather hose 4.
Lift the battery up and out;
work it slightly back and forth
if it is difficult to remove.
Install the battery
Install the battery, making sure
to connect breather hose 4.
Connect positive lead 3 first.
Then connect negative lead 2.
Push cover 1 into position over
the battery positive terminal.
Position small heat shield 3
with aluminium side out and
secure with rubber strap 2.
Fold large heat shield 1 on the
battery.
Install the centre trim panel
( 97).
Setting clock ( 29).
Checking battery-acid
level
Check the acid level regularly
at intervals of approximately
three months.
Removing battery ( 95).
