TM
FILTRATION BALLS
1. Once the lter system has been properly assembled, the CottonTails
TM
placed in the tank, and the
hoses are connected as described above, you may begin the ltration.
2. Do not plug the system in until advised to do so.
3. Before operating the lter system, it is important to ensure that the lter system is positioned
outside of the pool and is lower than the pool’s water level. The hose connections must also be
correctly connected and fastened.
4. If you haven’t already done so, ll your pool with water. Ensure that the water level is at least 1”-2’’
above the return ttings in the pool wall.
5. Vent the lter system. If applicable, open the air vent plug on the upper side of the transparent
lter cover until the water ows out.
6. If your pool is so equipped, release the shut off valve at the intake port (skimmer) in the pool. If you
plugged the intake port (skimmer), remove the plug to allow the water ow into the intake hose.
7. If the lter-pump system is installed in a location level and lower than your pool’s water level, water
will automatically ow into the pump-lter system.
8. Allow the lter tank to ll with water.
9. Check the lter system and the connection hoses for leaks and x as needed. Leaking at connection
points may happen due to manufacturing tolerances, these leaks are easily resolved by wrapping
Teon tape around the connections before the connecting hose is attached.
10. Your lter system is now ready for use.
1. Check the condition of the CottonTails
TM
frequently. Look for excess dirt and debris build up by
inspecting through the clear tank lid or by checking the water pressure coming out of the return
tting. You will be able to tell if the CottonTails
TM
are becoming dirty and in need of cleaning.
2. If the CottonTails
TM
are dirty and need cleaning, rst shut off the pump at the power supply.
Remove the clear tank lid, remove the CottonTails
TM
from the tank, rinse excess dirt and debris off
the CottonTails
TM
, and return them to the lter tank. If there still is a signicant amount of dirt in
the CottonTails
TM
after rinsing, you may place the CottonTails
TM
in a mesh laundry bag and wash
in your washing machine. Once you have cleaned the CottonTails
TM
, return them to the lter tank,
reconnect the clear tank lid, turn on the pump at the power supply, and return to ltering your pool.
3. We recommend removing the CottonTails
TM
at the end of the season. Place in a mesh laundry bag,
wash in your washing machine, let dry, and return to the tank for next season.
4. Important notes regarding Clariers:
a. Pool water clariers or other chemical additives that bond to particulate matter for the
purpose of improved ltration must not be used if CottonTails
TM
are the ltration media for your
pool. This is the same warning or instruction that is commonly given for pools where diatomaceous
earth is the ltration media.
b. Like diatomaceous earth, CottonTails
TM
lter down to a very small particle size (3 microns).
Therefore, the addition of a clarier will not improve the effectiveness of the CottonTails
TM
.
The clarier or a similar chemical additive is likely to cause damage to the CottonTails
TM
resulting in
signicant reduction in the ltration capability. In addition, possible damage to the ltration tank or
its internal components may occur.
