Owners manual
HOOKING / EXTENDING
1. Stop the towing vehicle on a straight, at, and level surface and engage the parking brake. Drive the towed
vehicle behind the towing vehicle in the approximate towing position, and engage the parking brake of the
towed vehicle.
2. Place the pintle ring on pintle hitch of the towing vehicle, close the pintle hitch locking lever, and secure the
clip or lock.
3. Partially extend one leg. Place the triple lug between the attachment tabs on the baseplate, and secure with
the 1/2" pin and quick pin. Repeat for the other leg.
4. After connecting both legs, start the towed vehicle, disengage parking brake, pull backward slowly with the
towed vehicle until one or both of the locking handles are engaged and locked. Set up the transmission for
towing, stop the engine and leave the steering wheel in the unlocked position.
5. Install safety cables or chains, lighting system, and auxiliary braking system.
6. Pull the towing vehicle forward one to two feet until the legs lock into place. IMPORTANT: Check to insure
both legs are latched properly before towing.
UNHOOKING / FOLDING
1. Stop the towing vehicle and towed vehicle in a straight line on a at and level surface and set the parking
brake.
2. Place the towed vehicle in park (for automatic transmissions) or first gear (for manual transmissions).
3. When unhooking in tight jams, put the towed vehicle in neutral. Turn the wheels all the way to one side, then
all the way to the other and center.
4. Unhook and store the electrical cables and any auxiliary braking system.
5. Pull up the locking handles to release tow bar legs.
6. Remove the quick pins and the 1/2" pins from both sides of the baseplate attachment tab/tow bar connection,
and lay on the ground.
7. Remove the clip or lock from the pintle hitch locking lever and lift up. Lift the ring off the hitch, cover, and store
in a clean dry place.
QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE
IMPORTANT: Use only genuine factory replacement parts on your tow bar. Do not substitute homemade or
nontypical parts. If a bolt is lost or in need of replacement, for your safety and the preservation of your tow bar,
be sure to use a replacement bolt of the same grade (usually Grade 5). Failing to follow and/or altering these
installation instructions, in either installation or required equipment, will void the manufacturer's warranty. Towing
behind a non-motorized vehicle will void the warranty.
Repair parts may be ordered through your nearest Blue Ox dealer or distributor.
