TROUBLESHOOTING
5 --- 6
POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) SUGGESTED REMEDY
Symptom #36 --- Blower motor running backward
D
Motor off by thermal overload (other fans forcing
blower to spin).
D
Faulty capa citor.
D
Determine if the cooling blower (or fans) are oper-
ating. If not, verify voltage to the cooling blower.
If voltage is present, replace the cooling blower
motor. If voltage is not present, verify voltage
through the thermal sw itch. If no voltage is pres-
ent, replace the thermal switch.
D
Replace capacitor.
Symptom #37 --- Blower motor d oes not shut off
D
Bad temperature probe
D
Bad blower relay
D
Faulty computer
D
Check the resistance values of the temperature
probe for values from 135- 170_F (57-77_C). Ref-
erence NO TAG on page NO TAG of the Techni-
cal Appendix. If t he values do not agree with the
chart change the probe.
D
If the temperature probe is good check for volt-
ageatthecoiloftheblowerrelay.Ifvoltageisnot
present the relay is bad. Replace the blower
relay.
D
If voltage is present at the blower relay, the com-
puter is bad. Replace the computer.
