SECTION 1 - IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS IMPORTANT INFORMATION Read all instructions carefully before using your Blendtec® blender. 1.1 SAFETY CERTIFICATION The Blendtec Home blender (model ES3) is certified by ETL (Report No. 3018204-4, 3018204-2 & 3018204-3). It also complies with UL standard 982 6th ed. 11-29-2001, and to CSA standard C22.2 No. 195-m 1987, Nov. 1990, R 2004. The unit conforms to CE standards. This unit also complies with AS/NZ 60335-2-14; approval #SAA110134EA. 1.
1.6 NEVER PUT NON-FOOD ITEMS INTO JAR Metal utensils, rocks, and glass are dangerous if placed in jar. Damage caused by such foreign objects will void the warranty. Keep hands and utensils out of jar while blending to reduce the risk of severe injury to persons or damage to the blender. Utensils may only be used when the blender is not running. 1.7 NEVER OPERATE THE BLENDER WITH MORE THAN THE MARKED CAPACITY OF THE JAR. 1.8 NEVER OPERATE THE BLENDER WITHOUT THE LID IN PLACE 1.

2.2 RECORDING YOUR SERIAL NUMBER AND DATE OF PURCHASE Your serial number is located on the bottom of the motor base. Record your blender motor serial number and date of purchase in the space below. You will need these when contacting Blendtec for service or questions. SECTION 4 - INSTALLATION Place blender on a flat, clean, and dry surface. Make sure a plug outlet is available within 2 feet (0.61 meters) of the blender motor base. Ensure the unit is turned off before plugging it into a separate receptacle. Blendtec blenders are produced in either 100/120V or 220/240V power. An appropriate power receptacle should be used - protection of at least 13 amps for 100/120V units and 6.5 amps for 220/240V. Make sure the electrical circuit is at least 13 amps or 6.
▶▶ If you are not using your jar daily, before each use, reach under the bottom of the jar and turn the drive shaft for a few seconds. This will help keep the seal in good shape and prolong the life of the jar. If the shaft does not spin easily, add some hot water to the jar, then twist the shaft by hand until it begins to spin freely. ▶▶ Do not place jar onto motor base while the motor is running as this causes the jar drive shaft to wear prematurely.
during a blend cycle. When the “PULSE” button is pressed the current cycle pauses and the pulse begins. When the “PULSE” button is released, the selected cycle resumes. Pressing the “SPEED UP” button will start a speed cycle for 50 seconds. During this time press or hold down the “SPEED UP” or “SPEED DOWN” arrows to control up to 10 speeds at which the blender can operate. Simply press the “SPEED UP” button and the motor will begin.

6.4 RESTORING FACTORY DEFAULTS The Blendtec Home blender has the following blend cycles set as factory defaults for preset buttons numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4: Button 1. . . . . . “Slow” cycle Button 2. . . . . . “Smoothie” cycle Button 3. . . . . . “Mixed Drinks” cycle Button 4. . . . . . “Whole Juice” cycle To restore your blender to these settings, press and hold preset button 4 and the “START/STOP” button. The display will read, “Restoring Defaults”.
7.2 NOISE LEVEL CHANGES If the blender noise level has increased significantly from original levels, determine whether the sound is coming from the blender motor or jar. Blender Motor: Check to see if the excess noise is coming from the blender motor base. Remove the jar and press button number two or three. Listen to the motor sound without a jar attached. If it is excessively noisy contact your Blendtec service center. Jar: Check to see if the excess noise is coming from the jar.
