HINTS AND TIPS · · · · GRILLING CHART Most foods should be placed on the grid in the grill pan to allow maximum circulation of air to lift the food out of the fats and juices. Food such as fish, liver and kidneys may be placed directly on the grill pan base if preferred. FOOD RUNNER POSITION 2 crk. GRILL TIME (mins in total) 4-6 Bacon Rashers 2 crk. 10 Beefburgers 2 crk. 10-15 Chicken Joints 2 crk. 30-40 Chops - Lamb Pork 2 crk. 2 crk. 15-20 20-30 Fish - Whole Trout/Mackerel 2 crk.
THE TOP OVEN USES OF THE TOP OVEN The top oven is the smaller of the two ovens. It is designed for cooking smaller quantities of food. It gives especially good results if used to cook fruit cakes, sweets and savoury flans or quiche. The top oven is also ideal for use as warming compartment to warm dishes and keep food hot. Use the lowest setting on the top oven temperature control.
THINGS TO NOTE · There should always be at least 2.5cm (1”) between the top of the food and the element. This gives best cooking results and allows room for rise in yeast mixtures, Yorkshire puddings etc. When cooking cakes, pastry, scones, bread etc., place the tins or baking trays centrally below the element. · Ensure that food is placed centrally on the shelf and there is sufficient room around the baking tray/dish to allow for maximum circulation.
TOP OVEN COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the temperatures by 10°C to suit individual preferences and requirements. THE MAIN FAN OVEN USES OF THE MAIN FAN OVEN The main fan oven is particularly suitable for cooking larger quantities of food. The advantages of fan oven cooking are: PREHEATING The fan oven quickly reaches its temperature so it is not usually necessary to preheat the oven. Without preheating however you may need to add an extra 5 – 10 minutes on the recommended cooking times. For recipes needing high temperatures e.g. bread, pastries, scones, soufflés etc.
USING THE TELESCOPIC RUNNERS (Where Applicable) · It is recommended that when baking larger quantities, the shelf positions should be evenly spaced to suit the load being cooked. A slight increase in cooking time may be necessary. · The material and finish of the baking tray and dishes will affect the degree of base browning of the food.
THE CONVENTIONAL OVEN USES OF THE CONVENTIONAL OVEN This form of cooking gives you the opportunity to cook without the fan in operation. It is particularly suitable for dishes which require extra base browning such as pizzas, quiches and flans. Gratins, lasagnes and hotpots which require extra top browning also cook well in the conventional oven. For best results cook on one level. SELECTING THE CONVENTIONAL OVEN · · Turn the main oven conventional oven.
MAIN OVEN COOKING CHART The oven temperatures are intended as a guide only. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the temperatures by 10°C to suit individual preferences and requirements.

PIZZA FUNCTION USES OF THE PIZZA FUNCTION This setting can be used for foods such as pizza where base browning and crispness are required. The top and lower elements operate in conjunction with the oven fan. SELECTING THE PIZZA FUNCTION · Turn the main oven function selector to Pizza setting. · Turn the main oven temperature control to the required setting. THINGS TO NOTE The indicator neon will glow. It may turn ON and OFF during use to show that the setting is being maintained.
SPEEDCOOK FUNCTION USES OF THE SPEEDCOOK FUNCTION Speedcook is ideal for quick preheating of the oven before selecting and alternative cooking function. It can also be used for cooking chilled and frozen convenience foods without the need for preheating. COOKING TIMES Cooking times for convenience foods should be the same or slightly quicker than those stated on the packaging. This may vary depending on the dish and the quantity of food being cooked.
FAN GRILLING USES OF FAN GRILLING Fan grilling offers an alternative method of cooking food items normally associated with conventional grilling. The grill element and the oven fan operate together, circulating hot air around the food. The need to check and turn food is reduced. Fan assisted grilling helps to minimise cooking smells in the kitchen and allows you to grill with the oven door closed.
HINTS AND TIPS · COOKING TIMES Prepare foods in the same way as for conventional grilling. Brush lean meats and fish lightly with a little oil or butter to keep them moist during cooking. Cooking is more gentle, therefore food generally takes a little longer to cook when fan grilling compared with conventional grilling. One of the advantages is that larger loads can be cooked at the same time.
DEFROST FEATURE USES OF DEFROST FEATURE Small or thin fish fillets, frozen peeled prawns, cubed or minced meat, liver, thin chops, steaks etc., can be thawed in 1 – 2 hours. This main oven function defrosts most foods faster than some conventional methods. It is particularly suitable for delicate frozen foods which are to be served cold, e.g. cream filled gateaux, cakes covered with icings or frostings, cheesecakes, biscuits, scones, etc.
CARE AND CLEANING DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE ANY OF THE CONTROL KNOBS FROM THE PANEL AS THIS MAY CAUSE DAMAGE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. BEFORE CLEANING ALWAYS ALLOW THE COOLING FAN TO COOL THE APPLIANCE DOWN BEFORE SWITCHING OFF AT THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY. CLEANING MATERIALS Before using any cleaning materials on your appliance, check that they are suitable and that their use is recommended by the manufacturer. Cleaners that contain bleach should NOT be used as they may dull the surface finishes.
CLEANING THE SHELVES, WIREWORK RUNNERS AND GRILL/OVEN FURNITURE CARE OF STAYCLEAN SURFACES Stayclean surfaces destroy splashes of food and fats when the oven temperature is raised to around 220°C. It is a good idea to run the oven for an hour or two per week to ensure continued good performance from the Stayclean finish. All removable parts, except the grill pan handle, can be washed in the dishwasher.
5. CLEANING BETWEEN THE OUTER AND INNER DOOR GLASS To prevent damaging or weakening the door glass panels avoid the use of the following: · Household detergents and bleaches · Impregnated pads unsuitable for nonstick saucepans · Brillo/Ajax pads or steel wool pads · Chemical oven pads or aerosols · Rust removers · Bath/Sink stain removers Clean the outer and inner glass using hot soapy water or Hob Brite may be used with care. DO NOT use Hob Brite on the Stainless Steel or painted finishes.
REPLACING AN OVEN LIGHT BULB The type of bulb required is a 300°C 25 watt small Edison Screw. Part number 572 491 5431-00/1 CAUTION: DISCONNECT THE APPLIANCE FROM THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BEFORE REPLACING THE BULB. Open the door and remove the shelves to enable easy access to the oven light assembly. Insert a flat blade screwdriver between the oven side and glass which covers the bulb. Support the glass with your hand and prise out sufficiently to release the glass cover.
SOMETHING NOT WORKING? The grill does not work or cuts out after being used for a long period of time. Before calling a Service Technician please carry out the following checks, you may be able to solve the problem without the expense of a Service Technician. * Leave the oven to cool for a couple of hours.
