Command Line Interface Shortcuts
Command Abbreviation
Most commands can be abbreviated by entering the first characters which distinguish the com-
mand from the others in the same mode. For example, consider the following full command
and a valid abbreviation:

Tab Completion
By entering the first characters of a command at any prompt and pressing <Tab>, if only one
command fits the input text when <Tab> is pressed, that command is supplied on the com-
mand line, waiting to be entered.
For example, if you enter the following partial command, followed by the tab key, the system
attempts to complete the command:
G8124(config)# spanning-tree stp 2 bridge hello 2
G8124 (config)# sp stp 2 br h 2
G8124(config)# show span <Tab>
G8124(config)# show spanning-tree
