Temporarily Disabling a Port
To temporarily disable a port without changing its stored configuration attributes, enter the
following command at any prompt:
Because this configuration sets a temporary state for the port, the port state will revert to its
original configuration when the switch is reset. See the “Operations Commands” on page 173
for other operations-level commands.
duplex {full|half|any}
Sets the operating mode. Not all options are valid on all ports. Ports 1-18 are set to full duplex, and
cannot be changed.
The choices include:
Full-duplex
Half-duplex
“Any,” for auto-negotiation (default)
Command mode: Interface port
[no] flowcontrol {both|receive|send}
Sets the flow control. The choices include:
Both receive and transmit flow control (default)
Receive (rx) flow control
Transmit (tx) flow control
Command mode: Interface port
show interface port <port number>
Displays current port parameters.
Command mode: All
RS G8000# interface port <port number> shutdown
