Which connections should I use for best quality video?
Inconsistent connector names
While this manual uses industry standard terminology including “composite”, “S-Video”, “component”
and “HDMI”, other terms may be seen on other video equipment.
For example, the component analog video input of a television might be referred to as “HD/DVD” on its
onscreen menu. The connectors on the back of the TV might be labelled as Y, Pb, Pr and the component
connectors on Intensity Pro are labelled Y, R-Y, B-Y. It’s all very confusing!
To help minimise confusion over connector names, we’ve listed some of the common connector names
we’ve found on popular video equipment next to the terms used in this manual.
Composite: Video

S-Video: Video

Component: HD/DVD

Mono Audio
Some old video equipment, such as old VHS players, only provide a mono audio output. When you capture
this analog audio with Intensity, you will only hear a single audio channel through either the left or right
speaker. To overcome this problem, connect a “Male RCA to 2 Female RCA Adapter“ to the mono audio
output of your old video equipment. You can now capture 2-channel audio using both the left and right
analog audio inputs of Intensity. Audio playback will be heard through both speakers.

“Male RCA to 2 Female RCA Adapter” is useful for taking
mono audio and splitting it in to two audio channels for
capture with Intensity.
