Camera Control
ATEM SDI lets you control Blackmagic SDI cameras remotely using ATEM Software Control, or
directly from the unit when using ATEM SDI Extreme ISO. This means you can adjust camera
settings such as iris, gain and zoom with compatible lenses and color balance cameras using a
built in DaVinci Resolve color corrector.
Connecting Camera Control
When controlling Blackmagic SDI cameras such as Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro models
with ATEM SDI, you will need to connect one of your switcher’s SDI outputs back to your
camera. This second output carries a return feed to your camera so it can receive camera
control and tally data from your switcher.

When connected to a Blackmagic camera over SDI, camera control and tally is sent to the camera over a
second SDI cable
Connecting ATEM SDI
1 Connect your Blackmagic camera’s SDI output to any SDI input on your ATEM SDI.
2 Connect any one of your ATEM SDI’s outputs to your camera’s SDI input.
3 In your camera’s settings, set the ATEM camera ID number to match your switcher
input. Forexample, if studio camera 1 is connected to SDI input 1 on your ATEM SDI,
the camera number in your camera settings must also be set to 1. This ensures camera
control and tally are sent to the correct camera.
If you want to change the button mapping so camera inputs appear on different
buttons, you can do that in the button mapping settings in ATEM Software Control’s
preferences.
TIP If you are using multiple SDI cameras, you can connect an optional Blackmagic
Mini Converter SDI Distribution and feed the same output to each camera. This lets
you control multiple cameras from a single output on your ATEM SDI. More information
is included later in this section.
Camera Control using ATEM Software Control
Clicking on the ‘camera’ button in ATEM Software Control opens the camera control feature
that lets you control Blackmagic SDI cameras from your ATEM SDI switcher. Blackmagic camera
settings such as iris, gain, focus, detail and zoom control are easily adjusted using compatible
lenses, plus you can color balance cameras and create unique looks using the DaVinci Resolve
primary color corrector that’s built into the camera.
