Function Keys
The function keys of the DaVinci Resolve Editing Keyboard are by default mapped directly to
their DaVinci Resolve commands. If you wish to use them as regular function keys (f1, f2, f3, etc.)
you can hold the Fn key down and press the appropriate function key.
The mapped Function keys
Sync Bin (F1)
This key will open up the Sync Bin for easy multi-camera editing as described in Chapter 20,
“Fast Editing in the Cut Page” There is, however, a specific function in the Sync Bin that works
only with the DaVinci Resolve Editing Keyboard, called Live Overwrite.
Live Overwrite
When editing in the Sync Bin you can “paint on” a specific camera angle to the Timeline and
adjust its duration using the Search Dial.
1 Navigate the Timeline so the playhead is where you want the new camera angle to
start. This function does not edit at the Smart Indicator; the edit point is exactly where
the playhead is positioned.
2 Hold down the number of the camera you want in the multi viewer on the keyboard,
and rotate the Search dial to the right to adjust the duration forward or to the left to go
backward. The video and audio of the clip will be laid down as you move the Search
dial. If a video only edit is selected, the timeline audio will play underneath the live
overwrite as its happening.
3 Release the number key to perform the edit.
At this point the Timeline is instantly set up at the correct point to do the next edit, so repeat
Step 2 and Step 3 again with different camera angles until you are finished.
This is an incredibly quick and intuitive way to edit multi-camera productions.
