Lotus Notes
Notes 8 does not support Notes downgrade
Notes downgrade is not supported in Lotus Notes 8. The term downgrade refers to installing an older
version when a newer version is currently installed. Lotus Notes downgrade is a consideration when
installing beta releases of Lotus Notes 8 and will also be a consideration when future releases of Lotus
Notes 8.x are made available.
Lotus Notes, Domino Designer
Notes 8 install customization
The addToKit tool and the installation media kit compression script referenced in the Domino
Administrator 8 help topic, "Customizing Notes installation using the install manifest" are not available in
this Lotus Notes 8 Beta release. The remainder of that topic, which describes how to customize Lotus
Notes 8 installation, remains true and valid for this Lotus Notes 8 Beta release.
Also, when installing Lotus Notes 8 using the single user Allclient installation kit on Windows, Domino
Designer and Domino Administrator follow the settings in the Notes 8 MSI file. The settings in the MSI file
(which affect the Feature installation panel) override the settings in the Notes 8 install manifest file. To
install Domino Designer and/or Domino Administrator, you must either select them for install using the
Feature installation or specify them for silent install using the tuner. Tuner usage is described in the
Domino Administrator 8 help topic, "Customizing client installations using the tuner".
Lotus Notes
Notes 8 installation panel may close unexpectedly on SLED 10
When installing or uninstalling Lotus Notes 8 on a SLED 10 Linux client, an error message may appear
during or at the end of the installation or uninstallation process as below:
The application "Gnome-main-menu" has quit unexpectedly. You can inform ...
or you can restart the application right now.
If this error appears, click the Close option on the error message panel and you will be prompted to
choose either Reload or Don't Reload from a second panel. If you click "Reload" the main menu will be
redisplayed. If you click"Don't Reload" the main Menu will not be redisplayed.
Lotus Notes
Notes 8 processes left open if Configuration wizard is cancelled
If you cancel out of the Lotus Notes 8 client configuration wizard, some Notes processes may not close
properly. To ensure that all Notes processes terminate, open a command window and change to the
Notes program directory (default is Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes), and type the following:
nsd -kill
