Domino Server
Do not attempt to install Domino data path under drive disk name
Do not attempt to install the Domino data path under only a drive disk name, on the Windows platform.
For example, do not specify an installation data path of "D:/" or "C:/".

Ending the Notes 8 installation process before completion
Once you click "Install" on the Lotus Notes 8 installation panel, allow the installation to complete. Ending
the installation process prematurely can leave files in an unstable state, and may also leave empty
folders. Ending the installation process after the pre-installation screen can leave miscellaneous files on
your system.

Google Desktop search plug-in install download
After installing Lotus Notes 8 Beta, users can optionally install the Google desktop search plug-in.
Administrators can forward the download URL to their users, and users can install the application onto
their client. A description of the plug-in is available at the download site.
Lotus Notes
Installation path cannot contain certain characters
The Lotus Notes 8 installation path cannot contain special characters such as # or $. Additionally, on
Linux, the installation path cannot contain a space character. The uninstall utility will not run if the
installation path contains one or more spaces.

Installing Domino and DB2 on IBM AIX and Linux platforms
Note After you install the Domino 8 server and Domino 8 Administrator client (Step 1 below), open the
Domino 8 Administrator online help to see the detailed instructions for completing the steps in the
procedure below.
Setting up the Domino server environment
1. (Domino administrator) Install and set up the Domino 8 server and Domino 8 Administrator.
Installing and setting up the DB 2 server
1. (AIX or Linux Admin) Create the DB2 installation user account.
2. (DB2 or IBM AIX or Linux admin logged on using installation user account) Install DB2 on IBM AIX.
Setting up the DB2 server environment
1. Create a DB2 administrator account.
2. (AIX or Linux Admin) From AIX or Linux OS or from the AIX or Linux administrator tool, create three
primary groups.
3. (DB2 administrator) Determine whether your DB2 configuration already has a SYSCTRL
_
GROUP.
4. On the DB2 server, log in using the Instance owner user account name and password. In a remote
configuration, the IBM Lotus Domino user account can be the same ID as the Instance owner's user
ID.
