> Perform the following actions:
Consolidate user license keys
When you upgrade multiple BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, you must consolidate all of the user license keys on the
first BlackBerry Enterprise Server that you upgrade.
1. In the BlackBerry Server Manager, on the Tools menu, click License Manager.
2. In the User Licences field, type the total number of user licenses.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Yes to update the license information.
Action Procedure
Document your current IT policy settings. The default wireless IT policy in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 4.1.2 and later
replaces the serial IT policies in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Version 2.2, so you must
re-create the IT policies.
> Write down your current IT policy settings.
Back up BlackBerry-related IBM Lotus
Domino databases and database
templates.
1. Browse to Lotus\Domino\Data\BES.
2. Back up the following files:
•BBProfiles.ntf
•BBSD.ntf
• BlackBerryProfiles.nsf
3. Browse to Lotus\Domino\Data\BES\State.
4. Back up all state databases.
Notes: To back up the operational databases successfully while the BlackBerry Enterprise
Server add-in task is active and the IBM Lotus Domino server is running, you require a
backup agent that supports the IBM Lotus Domino backup and recovery application
program interface (API) or supported third-party open file management software.
If these backup applications are not available in the environment, to maintain the integrity
of the database backup, stop the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the IBM Lotus Domino
server services before you start the backup. Restart the services after you complete the
backup.
Back up the IBM Lotus Domino Server
details.
1. Browse to Lotus\Domino\Data\.
2. Back up the following files:
•server.ID
•notes.ini
Back up the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
registry settings.
1. On the computer on which you plan to upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, open
the Registry Editor.
2. In the left pane, browse to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion.
3. Back up all the registry keys.
Back up the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
log files.
1. Back up the BlackBerry Enterprise Server log files to another computer.
2. Delete the log files from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer.
