TolockthetriggerswitchintheONposition,pullbackon
the trigger switch to start the drill. Continue to squeeze the
triggeruntilthedrillreachesitsmaximumspeed.Pushthe
triggerswitchlockbutton(5)intothedrillhandle.Release
thetriggerswitchwhileholdingthetriggerswitchlock
button into the drill handle. The drill will continue to run at
fullspeed.Toreleasethetriggerswitchlockbutton,pull
thetriggerswitchbackandthenreleasethetrigger.
DRILLING
When drilling into smooth, hard surfaces such as metal, use a center
punchtomarkthedesiredholelocation.Thiswillpreventthedrillbit
from slipping off center as the hole is started.
Theworkpiecetobedrilledshouldbesecuredinaviceorwith
clampstokeepitfromturningasthedrillbitrotates(Fig. E).
1.Checkthedrillbittomakesureitisfirmlylockedintothedrillchuck,
and verify that the forward/reverse switch is in the forward position.
2. Hold the drill firmly with both hands whenever possible. Use
one hand to grasp the handle and switch.
NOTE: Makesurethehandplacedonthebodyofthedrilldoes
not cover the air vents. Covering these air vents will reduce
motor cooling, and possibly lead to overheating the motor.
3. While holding the drill firmly, place the point of the drill bit at the
point to be drilled. Squeeze the switch trigger to start the drill.
4.Movethedrillbitintotheworkpieceapplyingonlyenoughpressuretokeepthebit
cutting. Do not force the drill bit or apply sideways pressure to elongate the hole.
WARNING: Drill may stall (if overloaded or improperly used) causing a twist. Always
expectthestall.Gripthedrillfirmlytocontrolthetwistingactionandpreventlossofcontrol
which could cause personal injury. If a stall does occur, release the trigger immediately and
determinethereasonforthestallbeforere-starting.
Whendrillingmetals,uselightoilonthedrillbittokeepitfromoverheating.Theoil
will prolong the life of the drill bit and improve the cutting action. If the bit jams in the
workpiece,orifthedrillstalls,releasethetriggerswitchimmediately.Removethebit
fromtheworkpieceanddeterminethereasonforjamming.
•Usesharpdrillbitsonly.
•Supportandsecureworkproperly,asinstructedintheSafetyInstructions.
•Useappropriateandrequiredsafetyequipment,asinstructedintheSafetyInstructions.
•Secureandmaintainworkarea,asinstructedintheSafetyInstructions.
•Applypressureinastraightlinewiththebit.Useenoughpressuretokeepthebitbiting
but not so much as to stall the motor or deflect the bit.
•DONOTCLICKTHETRIGGEROFASTALLEDDRILLOFFANDONINANATTEMPT
TO START IT. DAMAGE TO THE DRILL CAN RESULT.
•Minimizestallingonbreakthroughbyreducingpressureandslowlydrillingthroughthelast
part of the hole.
•Keepthemotorrunningwhilepullingthebitoutofadrilledhole.Thiswillhelpreducejamming.
•Make sure switch turns drill on and off.
MAINTENANCE
Use only mild soap and damp cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the
tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
IMPORTANT: To assure product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and
adjustment (other than those listed in this manual) should be performed by authorized
service centers or other qualified service personnel, always using identical replacement parts.
