Before the introduction of the ServSwitch, accessing more
than one CPU from a single keyboard, monitor, and mouse
was problematic. Keyboard/video (KV) or keyboard/video/
mouse(KVM)switchesfrequentlycausedCPUstolockup

nuisance because either each server needed its own

rebooting if used with a KVM switch.
