4. Check the headers on the kV RSX
board to make sure that the pins are not
bent or out of position. Orient the
smallest black connector such that the
indexed (filled) hole in the black
connector is lined up with the missing
pin in the 4 pin header. Plug the
connector assembly into the header on
the RSX board. Orient the larger black
connector such that the indexed (filled)
hole in the black connector is lined up
with the missing pin in the 6 pin header.
Plug the connector assembly into the
header on the RSX board.
5. Attach the plastic connector holder as
shown in Figure 7. The connector
holder snaps should extend through the
holes in the kV RSX board and snap
into place.
6. Follow the steps outlined in the S base
installation for inserting the stack into
the meter. Then, reassemble the meter.
7. On the right side of the nameplate place
an “X” in the box marked “RS” and
replace the cover. See Figure 9.
8. The meter is now ready to be
programmed using GE’s MeterMate
software.
Optional Outage Call-in
Battery Installation
The kV™ Meter can be fitted with an optional
battery pack which will power the kV RSX
Option Board so it can call in during a power
outage. This battery only powers the kV
RSX; the external modem connected to the
kV RSX must be powered by a customer
supplied uninterruptable power source. The
optional battery pack is installed as follows:
1. Install kV RSX Option Board and cable
per instructions above. Connect the
Lithium battery to the kV RSX Option
Board battery connector, which is next
to where the communications cable
connects. This is a keyed connection
and should not be forced
2. Place the battery into the battery holder
with the leads extending through the slot
in the battery holder. See Figure 11.
3. Place the battery and battery holder
behind the communications cable being
careful not to disconnect the cable from
the kV RSX board. Insert the top of the
battery holder under the two top snaps
and press the bottom of the battery
holder until the snaps engage. See
Figure 12 for details.
4. Place communications cable under
cable holder as shown in Figure 13.
Dress remaining leads by tucking under
bezel.
5. Replace the cover.
