3.4 Getting started with the Black Box DTX5002
Extender
Before installing your Black Box DTX5002 Extender, refer to the list below to ensure that
you have all the items necessary for installation.
Needed to install the Black Box DTX5002 Extender
• Receiver
• Transmitter
• External power supply x 2
• IEC power cord x 2
• Black Box ServSwitch Extender Quick Installation Guide
• KVM cable
• UTP cable (not supplied)
• Three-wire serial cable or null modem cable (not supplied)
Needed for non-standard installations
To connect a VGA monitor to the receiver:
• A DVI to VGA adaptor (not supplied)
3.5 Mounting Option
The receiver features the following mounting option that allows you to adapt easily to
most work environments:
• Mounting to the rear of a flat-panel monitor via a mounting plate accessory
NOTE:
Mounting accessories are ordered separately. Contact Black Box for more information.
3.6 Installation Options
CAUTION:
To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, disconnect the power
from the receiver by unplugging the power supply from the electrical outlet.

computer and the receiver in the order described in the following procedures.
