This newest enlargement of the Black Box
ServSwitch DT series supports DisplayPort connec-
tions, a new video standard with high resolution
video up to UXGA (1600 x 1200), full HD (1920 x
1080), and WUXA (1920 x 1200). The ServSwitch
DT Display Port combines Display Port, USB key-
board/mouse switching and USB peripheral shar-
ing in one device. You can easily operate up to
four PCs, G3/G4 Macintosh® computers, or Mac®
Pros from a single USB keyboard, USB mouse, and
monitor, saving you space, time, equipment, and
money.
Its peripheral sharing function enables you to
share more USB peripherals among all computers.
The units also support bidirectional audio. Users
can switch among up to two or four KVM sources
and control the systems using a USB keyboard and
mouse, USB peripherals, and bidirectional audio,
and view them with a DisplayPort supported mon-
itor. A unique tracking system enables the USB or
audio devices to operate independently.
Installation is as easy as connecting USB A-B
cables between computers and the ServSwitch DT
DisplayPort KVM. To select a port, just press the
front-panel button(s). The built-in USB hub ensures
smooth switching from one computer to the
other. It reduces redundant cables and encourages
a neat and tidy working environment.

DisplayPort is a new digital video interface. Designed by the Video
Electronics Standards Association (VESA), it competes directly with
HDMI
®
. Unlike HDMI, DisplayPort is an open standard with no royalties.
This versatile interface is capable of delivering digital video, audio,
bidirectional communications, and accessory power over a single
connector. Newer DisplayPort++ connectors support both DVI and HDMI
connections with the use of an adapter.
Also, the DisplayPort connector is very compact and has latches that
don’t add to its size — a quick squeeze of the connector releases the
latch. Because it locks into place, accidental disconnections are much less
likely.
DisplayPort v1.1 supports a maximum of 10.8 Gbps over a 2-meter
cable; v1.2 supports up to 21.6 Gbps. DisplayPort v1.2 also supports
daisychaining up to four displays with a single output cable.
Without an extender that converts the signal for CATx transmission,
DisplayPort supports cable lengths of up to 15 meter with maximum
resolutions at about 3 meter. Bidirectional signaling enables DisplayPort
to both send and receive data from an attached device.
