Ford F150 2WD rear (1997- )
Refer to diagram below for parts identification.
A. Remove original equipment rear shock absorber.
B. Install lower retainer washer Á (supplied) onto shock absorber upper mount
stem À as shown, with outer edge facing downwards.
C. Install lower rubber cushion à (supplied) over the upper mount stem À as shown.
D. Push shock absorber upper mount stem with lower rubber cushion up through vehicle body Ä.
Ensure that the raised pilot of the rubber bushing is centered in the hole in the vehicle frame.
E. While holding upper mount in place, align lower mount ring inside the mounting bracket on the axle, and
insert the original lower mount bolt. Install the original hex nut to the lower mount bolt, but do not tighten
at this time.
F. Check that the lower rubber cushion à is still centered in the mounting hole of the vehicle frame. Install
the upper rubber cushion Å (supplied) and upper retainer washer Æ (supplied) over the shock absorber
upper mount stem (outer edge of retainer faces upwards as shown). Push the upper rubber cushion Å
down over the stem, ensuring that the raised pilot of the rubber cushion is centered in the mounting hole
of the vehicle frame.
G. Install the M12 locknut Ç (supplied) onto the upper mount stem. Tighten lock nut to 30 Nm max. (22 lb/ft
max.).
H. Tighten hex nut on lower mount bolt to 60 - 80 Nm (44 - 60 lb/ft).
