The amount of time between beacon transmissions. Ea c h b e a co n
transmission identifies t h e p rese n ce o f a n a cce ss p o i n t . B y d e f a u l t , ra d i o
NICs passiv e l y scan all RF channels and list e n f o r b e a co n s comi ng f rom
access points to find a su i t a b l e a cce ss p o i n t . B e f o re a station enters
power save mode, t h e station needs t h e b e a co n i n t e r val to know when
to wake u p t o re ceiv e t he b e a con (and learn w h e t he r t here a re b u f f e re d
