Name. Yo u ca n co n n e c t mu l t i p l e device s in cluding Laptops,

Desktop P C s a n d P DAs to your Wireless G a t e way. To g e t ad d i t i o n a l

devices connected, scan f o r a n e t w o rk , a n d lo c a t e t h e SSID s h o w n

on your Wire l e ss Security C a rd . If t he SSID d o e s n o t match, a cce ss

is deni e d .

Network Au t hentication This o p t i o n is use d f o r a u t hentic a t i o n t o t he wireless n e t w o rk.

Each a u t hentic a t i o n t y p e has i t s own settings . For e x a m p l e ,

selecting 802.1X au t hentication wil l re v e a l t h e RAD I U S Server I P

address, Port and key f i e l d s .

WEP Encr y p t i o n This op t i o n indic a t e s wh e t her da t a sent ov e r t h e ne t w o rk is

encr y p t e d . The same network key is used for data encr y p t i o n a n d

network a u t hentic a t i o n . W hilst f o u r network keys can b e defined,

only one can be used at any one time.

Encr y p t i o n S t re ngt h This d ro p - d o w n l ist box wil l d isplay when WEP Encr y p t i o n

is e n a b l e d . The key stre ng t h is pro p o r t i o n a l to t h e number

of b i n a r y bi t s comprisi ng t he key. This me a n s t h a t keys wit h a

greater nu m b e r of b i t s hav e a g reater d e g ree o f se c u ri t y and a re

considerably mo re di f f ic u l t to crack. En cryption st reng t h can be

set t o ei t her 64 - b i t or 128-bit. A 64 - b i t key is e q u iva l e n t t o 5 A S C I I

characters o r 10 hexadecimal n u m b e rs . A 128 - b i t key contains

13 ASCII characters or 26 hexadecimal nu m b e rs. FYI: Each key

contains a 24 -bit header ( a n i nitiation v e c t o r ) w hich e n a b l e s

parallel decoding o f m u l t i p l e st re a ms of encr y p t e d d a t a .
