Bamboo Flooring Installation Instructions
Bamboo flooring is a natural product characterized by variation in grain and coloring. The
variations in grain and shade are not defects but are a part of the natural appearance of Big
Mountain Bamboo Flooring.
Natural flooring reacts to environmental conditions. Flooring planks expand and contract in
response to changes in temperature and humidity. Optimum temperature is 68-70 degrees
Fahrenheit and relative humidity of 50-60% must be maintained. In dry environments, use
of a humidifier is recommended.
NWFA Flooring Guidelines permit a defect tolerance not in excess of 5%. Defects may be
of a manufacturing or a result of natural grain or shade variation.
Prior to installation, the installer must determine that the job site environment and
subflooring meet or exceed all requirements specified below. Recommendations for
construction and materials must be in compliance with all local building codes. Use of stain,
filler or putty stick for touch-up during installation should be accepted as normal procedure.
Job Site Preparation
Prior to installation, inspect all flooring planks for correct grade, color and for any
visible defects prior to installation. This warranty does not cover installation of
planks with visible defects not detected prior to installing.
It is recommended to order an 5-7% to cutting wastage and shade/grade variations.
It is the responsibility of the owner/installer to ensure that all flooring and subfloor
have been properly acclimated. Moisture content should not vary more than 3%
between floor plans and subfloor at time of installation. All panels should be fully
acclimated in area of installation for 7-10 days. For proper acclimation, place planks
(removed from carton) in middle of room where flooring will be installed.
Handle flooring with care. Do not stand on ends or locate planks near outside,
exposed walls. Do not store planks directly upon grade concrete.
