Clares College –
Cambridge University
Bewator’s access control
equipment has now been fitted to
36 doors throughout the site,
including some within Old Court, a
Grade I star-listed building dating
from the seventeenth century. Some 1,000 students, graduates,
fellows and staff all carry personalised security cards which, when
held in the proximity of electronic readers, automatically release locks to open doors to authorised
areas.
Gt. Ormond St. Hospital
This is a large system operating in a very busy
environment. The security system needed to be easy to
use and reliable, yet flexible enough to adapt to the
hospital’s future requirements. David de Wet, assistant
site services manager at Great Ormond Street, says:
“We wanted to secure the building in the face of rising
crime in the area. We need to protect our patients and
staff from thieves, and also to secure the safety of the
drugs and equipment used in the hospital”.
Bolton Metropolitan Council
The existing system used Bewator Proximity Readers, which
were easy and quick enough for able-bodied users, but can be
inconvenient for those in wheelchairs. Hands-Free Readers
with Active Card Technology already specified in certain areas
have now been specified throughout the system. The Hands-
Free Readers have an extended reading range so users do not
even have to get their card out of their pocket and meet the
requirements of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act).
This makes it quick and easy for everyone, whether in a
wheelchair or not.
Georges Quay - Dublin
200 Bewator Proximity
Readers were installed
together with Hands-Free long
range Readers throughout the
site to control access to the
car parks and lifts, as well as
the main entrances, secondary entrances to floors,
offices and other secure areas. Alfie Walsh, Sales
Manager with security installer Electro Automation, says: “This is a very large development and we
needed a system which is powerful enough and flexible enough to cope with a wide range of
access control tasks”.
Ferrari & Maserati - Surrey
In all, 32 external and internal doors at the site are being secured with Bewator Proximity Readers,
together with three Hands-Free Readers at vehicle barriers. Staff use latest Active Card
Technology, the Cotag® 928, as well as Bewator Proximity cards.
