The height of the saddle is adjustable. Further adjustments possibly known from
your regular BERGAMONT bike cannot be made on dirt and freeride bikes.
For dirt biking or freeriding the saddle is set to a very low height (d) with a rear-
ward tilt. This improves your mobility on the bike under extreme conditions.
Ask your trainer, a competent person in your club or your BERGAMONT dealer
for the correct seating position. The instructions on how to adjust the saddle are
given in the chapter “Adjusting the BERGAMONT bike to the rider”.
DANGER!
G
BERGAMONT dirt and freeride bikes can be worn down after one sea-
son only so that major and/or load bearing parts must be replaced. Have
BERGAMONT dirt and freeride bikes of these types thoroughly checked by your
BERGAMONT dealer at least every three to four months.
CAUTION!
A
A saddle at low height is recommended in general for steep downhill rides
with your BERGAMONT dirt and freeride bike. Long pedalling with low
saddle height can result in knee problems.
NOTE!
I
In the case of height-adjustable seat posts, e.g. the Reverb from Rockshox
(e), the height is adjusted by pressing a button (f) on the handlebars. Read
the manual of the manufacturer on this BERGAMONT info CD.
DANGER!
G
Before using your BERGAMONT dirt and freeride bike on most challeng-
ing terrain, for jumps, tricks or the like, check whether your BERGAMONT
dirt and freeride bike is suitable for these uses. For more information about the
intended use see the chapter “Intended use of your BERGAMONT bike”.
DANGER!
G
BERGAMONT bikes for dirt biking and freeriding are true-bred sports bikes
(a+b). For your own safety, do not overestimate your riding skills. Please
note that though looking easy the tricks of a professional are hazardous to your
life and limb. Always protect yourself with appropriate and suitable clothing (c).
DANGER!
G
Due to the specific intended use, some dirt bikes are fitted with only one
brake. Do not ride these BERGAMONT bikes on public roads, but only on
enclosed terrain.
CAUTION!
A
Not all BERGAMONT mountain bikes which look like a dirt or freeride bike
are actually sports bikes! If you are in doubt or if you have any questions,
contact your BERGAMONT dealer.
Adjustment of the saddle height
In the case of BERGAMONT dirt and freeride bikes the saddle height depends
on the use. The seating position is not comparable to that of other bikes, as
in this case it is all about maximum control and freedom of movement on the
BERGAMONT bike.
When you set off for a long cycling tour, the saddle should be set to a height
which gives maximum pedalling comfort and efficiency. When pedalling, the
ball of your foot should be positioned above the centre of the pedal axle. With
your feet in this position you should not be able to stretch your legs completely
straight at the lowest point, otherwise your pedalling will become awkward.
