Why we chose this…
We have selected the Cat 5 cable because it is the standard cable used in networking. The
difference between Cat 5 and Cat 6 is minimal, but Cat 6 cable costs more money. We did not
select the fiber optic cable because the labs that we are creating are in close proximity to the
servers. There was no need to spend extra money on the fiber optic because the information
wasn’t traveling long distances. We chose the Genica cable because it was the least expensive
on the market. We decided to buy the cable in bulk due to the fact that it is less expensive to
purchase a roll of cable and attach the necessary accessories than it is to purchase ready-to-install
cable by the foot. Since we will be installing the cabling and accessories, there was no need to
incur the additional expense of pre-assembled cable.
