Switching phone on/off, entering PIN
Switching the phone on
Open the clamshell.
B
Press and hold On/Off/End
key to switch phone on.
Enter PIN or confirm request
(page 34).
Your greeting message is displayed if
activated (page 123).
The phone switches on
automatically when:
• You charge the phone via USB or
• an alert or calendar event appears.
If you do not respond, the phone
switches off again. If you respond
to the alert, the PIN is required.

Or
§Offline§ Press to start in offline
mode (page 25).
Entering the PIN
The SIM card can be protected with
a 4 to 8-digit PIN.

Enter PIN using number
keys. Asterisks appear to
ensure nobody can read
your PIN on the display.
Correct with
l.
§OK§ Confirm. Logging on to
the network will take a
few seconds.
You can change the PIN (page 33).

page 34.
Switching the phone off
B
Press and hold
On/Off/End key.
Or
B
Press briefly and select one
of the following options.
If you close the clamshell before entering
the PIN, the phone is switched off again.
Switch off
Switch phone off. Phone
switches on automatically
if alarm or calendar event
occurs.
Offline mode
Phone is not switched off,
but has no connectivity
(see page 25).
The shutdown is interrupted, if:
• some files occur to be not saved or
• the phone is receiving an MMS.
A warning message is displayed. Press
§Yes§ to continue shutdown. Files are not
saved. Message is received when phone
is switched on again.
