3.1.2 ROLL ATTITUDE
A white stationary roll scale with
an orange zero degree index pro-
vides the reference for the bank
angle pointer. The white sky
pointer moves in relation to the
roll scale to indicate degrees of
aircraft right or left bank. The
fixed scale is marked at 10, 20,
30, 45 and 60 degrees, with the
30 and 60 degree marks being
longer to allow easier recognition.
3.1.3 SYMBOLIC AIRCRAFT
Located in the center of the display, the
yellow aircraft symbol is a stationary
delta-shaped symbol with extended hori-
zontal reference bars. Pitch and roll atti-
tude of the aircraft is indicated by the
relationship of the symbolic aircraft to the horizon line. The reference
bars are useful for detecting small deviations from straight and level
flight since whey will coincide with the horizon line when pitch and roll
are both zero degrees.
3.1.4 FLIGHT DIRECTOR COMMANDS
Flight director commands are displayed
with two magenta “command bars” that
move in unison as a single cue to indicate
commanded pitch and roll relative to the
symbolic aircraft. These command bars are
only displayed when the flight director com-
puter is engaged and valid. When dis-
played, the bars appear behind the symbol-
ic aircraft delta but in front of the reference
bars. Flight director commands are satis-
fied by following the command bars with
the symbolic aircraft until it is nested in the
command bars. The bottom edges of the symbolic aircraft and com-
mand bars will form a straight line when the flight director commands
are completely satisfied. At that time, a small gap (approximately
0.020 inch) will remain between the top of the symbolic aircraft delta
and the bottom of the command bars.
