Downloading and Updating the
Aeronautical Data
During AV8OR 3D startup, the map of the USA
indicates by color whether the installed
aeronautical and navigational data for various
regions is current. Green means up-to-date, and
yellow or tan means out-of-date.
Note: AV8OR 3D continues to operat
e normally,
even if the data is out-of-date.
To update the aeronautical data:
1. Usi
ng the Samsung Tablet or any computer
th
at is connected
to the Internet, go to the
AV8OR 3D online store at www.bendixking.com
.
2. Log in to the Customer Center with the
usernam
e
and password that you used to
purchase AV8OR 3D and click Downloads,
Updates and Manuals. On this page are
Aeronautical Information Database updates
for the current 28-day period. The data is
split into six geographical regions or zones:
A. East B. Central C. Mountain
D. West E. Alaska F. Hawaii
3. Select a database zone.
4. After you have selected your zone, a license
window pops up with a button at the bottom.
Click the button to accept the license. Once
you have accepted the license, the download
starts automatically.
5. A dialog box appears that gives you a choice
to either Run or Save the file. If you are
using the Samsung, c
hoose Run. If you are
usin
g another computer, choose Save.
These files are large, so, even with a fast Internet
connection, the download takes several minutes.
If you use a second computer for the download,
you must transfer the Database Update files to
the Samsung. The easiest way is to use a USB flash
memory drive (also called a keychain or thumb
drive). Use the Windows Drag and Drop feature
to copy the files onto the USB drive. Insert the
USB drive into the Samsung and double-click each
Database Update file. A 512-MB drive holds a
AV8OR 3D database for at leas
t one region; a 2-
GB drive holds all database regions.
Note:
The aeronautical data is updated on a 28-
day cycle, so even a brand new AV8OR 3D may
have expired data.
Finishing the Data Update
After you have downloaded the database updater
onto the Samsung Tabl
et PC, follow these steps to
execute the
data update:
1. Make sure that the AV8OR 3D software is not
running.
2. Navi
gate to
the database updater and click
on it. The updater has a name similar to:
ZoneA_Full_15Feb07_15Mar07.exe.
Note: Be careful to choose the database
installer and not AV8OR 3D itself.
3. When the install wizard starts, follow the
instructions as they appear on the screen to
update your AV8OR 3D system.
The next time you start AV8OR 3D, the region
corres
ponding to
the updates appears in green on
the USA map.
