Before You Fly with AV8OR 3D Tablet PC Your new Samsung Tablet PC is a standard personal computer that runs Microsoft Windows® XP, Tablet PC Edition. You can use the Tablet PC most anywhere, such as at home, in the cockpit, or at the office. It is important to become familiar with both the Samsung Tablet PC and the AV8OR 3D System before flight. If you have not used a Tablet PC before, take some time to become comfortable with the Samsung.
Rechargeable Batteries When fully charged, the built-in battery will power the Samsung PC . To ensure full backup availability in case of aircraft electrical failure, keep the battery fully charged. In normal flight, the DC Power Adapter runs the Samsung and charges its battery at the same time. This adapter works on any aircraft bus voltage from 12 VDC to 30 VDC. Indoors, use the AC Power Adapter to power the Samsung and charge its battery.
Downloading and Updating the Aeronautical Data During AV8OR 3D startup, the map of the USA indicates by color whether the installed aeronautical and navigational data for various regions is current. Green means up-to-date, and yellow or tan means out-of-date. Note: AV8OR 3D continues to operate normally, even if the data is out-of-date. To update the aeronautical data: 1. 2. Installing AV8OR 3D in the Aircraft AV8OR 3D accommodates the needs of both aircraft owners and renters. Owners can save preflight time by leaving the INU, antenna, and power supply installed in the aircraft. Renters can easily move the whole portable system to any aircraft they choose. Note: AV8OR 3D is optimized to operate in an aircraft. AV8OR 3D may not display correct attitude and GPS position in a non-aircraft environment, such as a car. Note: Be careful to get a good clean suction seal.
Installing the Aircraft Power Adapter Choose a location for the Aircraft Power Adapter where it is out of the way, and run the cables to the INU and the Samsung Tablet PC. The optional mounting kit helps with the routing of cables to reduce cockpit clutter. Mounting the WxWorx Satellite Weather Receiver Mounting the INU Choose the best location for the INU: • Find a firm, approximately level surface. • Position the INU with the arrow on the top facing in the direction of flight.
Plugs and Cables Ensure that all cables are securely attached. Note: The illustration shows the optional Triple DC power supply, but the connectors are the same as on the standard power supply. Warning Do not plug the Samsung or INU power plugs into the WxWorx receiver. Doing so will damage the WxWorx unit and void the warranty. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ 7 Warning: AV8OR 3D is not to be used as a primary navigation reference.
