Medium Duty
(R05/09) Y53-6008A – 177 –
correct level soon after you have filled the radiator. This
may be because all the trapped air in the system has not
yet been purged. It takes a little time for all the air to leave
the system after you fill your radiator.
Refilling Your Radiator
1. Be sure the radiator and engine block drains are closed.
2. Move the heater control to maximum heat position.
3. Remove the surge tank pressure cap
4. Through the surge tank, fill the system with premixed
coolant. Pour it in a steady flow until the radiator is full.
5. Start the engine.
6. Idle at low RPM.
7. Complete the filling. Do it as quickly as possible.
8. Idle the engine until it reaches normal operating temper-
ature.
9. Fill the radiator as necessary to raise the coolant level to
the proper reading. Replace the surge tank pressure
cap.
Engine (Block) Heater (option)
WARNING! Do not use the heater if there are any
signs of problems. Engine block heaters can
cause fires resulting in serious personal injury
and/or property damage if not properly main-
tained and operated. Regularly inspect the
engine block heater wiring and connector for
damaged or frayed wires. Contact your Autho-
rized Service Center or the manufacturer of the
heater if you are in need of repairs or informa-
tion.
CAUTION: Always unplug the block heater
before starting your engine. Damage to the cool-
ing system could occur if not turned OFF
(unplugged).
