4 TABS6 Operating Conditions
4.1 Electrical
All test methods are according to SAE J1455 unless otherwise noted. Within all tests, a
nominal voltage of 14.2 Volts is applied at a nominal temperature of 75 °F (25 °C) unless
otherwise noted.
4.1.1 Power Requirements
For normal system function, the TABS6 operates within the 8.0 to 16 VDC
voltage range.
Function Mode Value
Operating Range 8.0 to 16.0 VDC
ECU Active 135 mA @ 12 VDC
ABS Active (1 modulator) 3.7 A @ 12 VDC
ABS Active (2 modulators) 5.2 A @ 12 VDC
4.1.2 Steady State Operation
The TABS6 withstands the following static voltages without any damage:
Voltage System status Remarks
-12.0 to 0 VDC No system function, no
damage
Reverse polarity
0 to 7 VDC No system function
7 to 8 VDC No system function, Warning
Light On, diagnosis running
Cold cranking
8 to 16 VDC Normal system function
16 to 28 VDC No system function, no
damage
Jumper start, regulator failure
4.1.3 ECU Housing Degree of Protection
With electrical connectors installed, the TABS6 ECU housing is designed to be
dust tight and protected against water ingress according to DIN 40050 (part 9) IP
69K.
4.1.4 Load Dump
The TABS6 is designed to operate normally after transient “Load Dump” pulses
(similar to SAE J1455 Section 4.11.2.2.1) are applied to the ECU. The pulses
are applied to the ignition and battery input circuits only.
Parameter Value Unit
Applied Pulse 14 + 86e
(-t/0.4)
± 10 V
Source Impedance 0.4 ± 0.1 Ohms
Total Pulses 5 Pulses
Time Between Pulses 1 min
