3.1.10 Power-Up Sequence (functions)
At power-up, the TABS6 will performs a series of system self-checks. By
observing the events, a driver or technician can determine the status of the ABS
system. The power-up sequence occurs when initial brake light or ignition power
is applied.
3.1.10.1 ABS Warning Lamp (trailer mounted)
At power-up, the trailer ABS warning lamp will turn on for 2.25
seconds and then go out to indicate that the system is functional
with no faults. Failure of the lamp to illuminate during power up
is an indication of a failure of the ABS warning lamp circuit, or
the presence of wheel speeds.
3.1.10.2 Trailer ABS Warning Lamp (dash mounted)
At vehicle power-up, if PLC signals are received from a trailer,
the dash mounted trailer ABS warning lamp will illuminate for
2.25 seconds. If the TABS6 is not faulted, the lamp will then turn
off. If the TABS6 is faulted, the dash-mounted trailer ABS
warning lamp will remain illuminated. The dash mounted trailer
ABS warning lamp will not perform a power-up bulb check unless
a PLC signal is received from a trailer ABS unit or diagnostic
tool.
3.1.11 Auto-Configuration (Premium TABS6 only)
If the TABS6 detects additional sensors and modulators at a power-up, the
TABS6 will perform an auto-configuration. TABS6 only auto-configures upward
(e.g. 2S/2M Side to a 4S/2M Side configuration) as shown in Table 5.
Additional detected components that do not conform to a legitimate configuration
will generate the appropriate faults. If wheel speeds are detected before TABS6
has accepted the new configuration, the reconfiguration cannot take place.
