3.1.7 ECU Speed Sensor Input Circuits
The TABS6 ECU speed sensor input circuits are designed to interface with
variable reluctance speed sensors as follows:
• Standard: Two (2) sensors - Sensors Left SL & Right SR
• Premium: Up to four (4) sensors - Sensors Left SL, Right SR, Additional
Left SAL & Additional Right SAR.
3.1.8 ABS Warning Light Circuit
3.1.8.1 Trailer-Mounted ABS Warning Light via ECU Driver
The trailer-mounted ABS warning light is required by FMVSS 121 until
March 1, 2009. The lamp is activated whenever there is a malfunction
that effects the generation or transmission of response or control signals
in the TABS6 system. The indicator light will remain activated as long as
such a malfunction exists, whenever power is supplied to the ABS
system.
The trailer-mounted ABS warning light is controlled directly from the
trailer ABS ECU by a high-side driver, capable of driving one- (1) 3.0 A
load at 12 volts. The trailer ABS warning light displays also outputs blink
code diagnostics as presented in Section 0.
3.1.8.2 Cab-Mounted ABS Warning Light via PLC
The TABS6 ECU provides the trailer ABS warning light Information to the
driver's cab through PLC communication.
When the trailer ABS warning light information is transmitted via PLC,
the tractor ABS PLC ECU controls the trailer ABS warning light that is
mounted in the tractor's cab. The control of the trailer warning light can
be done by either directly connecting to the light, or by providing an
appropriate control message by J1587 or J1939) to another ECU which
then controls the light.
SAE J2497 defines the method to activate the trailer ABS warning light
that located in the tractor.
