Impact at Bellwether.
We are creating a better future for the entire coffee industry, one that is
sustainable for the environment, equitable for farmers, and accessible to
all communities.
The coffee industry is not
sustainable
• Current coffee prices don’t provide a living income
to most of the world’s farmers, causing instability and
enduring poverty.
• The coffee industry creates significant carbon emissions,
disproportionately affecting farmers through climate
change.
• Coffee retailers are struggling with low margins, rising
labor and supply costs, and limited access to new
revenue streams.
To create a more sustainable and
equitable coffee industry, we believe:
• We must pay coffee farmers equitable prices that
support a living income, and invest in farm communities
where we source coffee.
• We must advocate for the widespread adoption of
electric and distributed roasting to reduce our carbon
footprint.
• We must create access for every coffee retailer to source
and roast their own coffee to improve margins and
grow revenues.
