The display com pr ises t hree ar eas.

Text indicat ions
Ar e a Descr iption
First line displays various icons ( see next page) .
Middle line Display m essages, inst ruct ions and
any inform ation t hat you ent er ( num ber t o be
dialed, for exam ple) . Last line shows t he
functions current ly assigned t o the t wo w ords.
I con s
Signa l st r e ngt h : Shows t he received signal
st rengt h. The great er t he num ber of bars show s,
the bet t er the signal is strong .
N o Se r vice : Appear s when you are out side a
ser vice area. With it display ed, you cannot m ake
or receive calls. Wait a lit t le w hile for a bet t er
signal or m ove int o an open area t o regain the
ser vice.
Roam ing: Appears when you are out of your
hom e area and have r egist ered wit h a different
net work (when t raveling in ot her count r ies,
for exam ple) .
N ew M e ssa ge: I ndicat es t hat there is a new
m essage wait ing t o be checked. (VS indicat es
voice m ails, and SMS m eans t ext m essages.)
Ala r m : Appears when you set an alarm .
Vibra t ion m ode: Appear s when t he ring volum e
for calls is set t o Vibr at e.
Bat t e ry st a t us: Shows t he level of your bat t ery.
The m or e bars you see, t he m ore power you have
left.
Backlight
The display and k eypad ar e illum inat ed by a
backlight . When you press any key, t he backlight
illum inat es. I t turns off if no key is pr essed w it hin
a given period of t im e.
To specify t he lengt h of t im e the phone wait s
before the backlight tur ns off, set the Backlight
m enu.
