Ezi St roke Mode
This m ode allows y ou t o enter individual Chinese
St rokes, in written order - from top t o bot t om ,
and fr om left to right .
Even t hough there ar e m any different St rokes
used t o create Chinese char act ers, t he St rokes
are classified int o 5 basic cat egories; heng, shu,
pie, dian and zhe. The basic St r ok es are print ed
on the keypad, on k eys 7 t o 0.
To enter a St r ok e, pr ess t he key print ed wit h the
St roke t hat m ost closely repr esent s t he exact
St roke you desire. The t able shows t he
St roke/ key relat ionship:

Mode
1. To t ype a charact er, press keys corresponding
to it s com ponent St rokes. Press keys on the
handset in the order t hat you w ould writ e t he
St rokes, using one press per desired St roke.
Ex a m ple : Typing (力 ) in St roke m ode
2. The phone displays your St rokes in the Key
Stroke Area and offers charact er choices in
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
St rokes, not ice t hat the choices in t he Character
Select ion Map change. To scroll thr ough choices
in t he Character Selection Map, press
the< Navigat ion Down> key . (To m ove back,
press < Navigation Up > key.)
3. When t he charact er you are typing appear s in
the Char act er Select ion Map, you m ay select it
wit hout finishing t he St roke sequence for the
char act er. Charact ers displayed in the Charact er
Select ion Map correspond to key s 1 to 6 on t he
keypad. To select a char act er from t he Charact er
Select ion Map and add it t o your m essage, press
the corresponding key.

St rok es, press the # key in place of each
quest ionable St roke. Continue ent er ing St rok es
until t he char act er is displayed in t he Charact er
Select ion Map or until you have finished the
char act er.

Scr olling
• The < Navigation Up> or < Navigat ion Down>
key scrolls t o t he alt ernat ive char act ers
corresponding the entered pinyin spelling.
• The < or > key m oves t he cursor left or right
in Text area.
Clea r ing St r oke s a nd Ch a ract e r s
Press t he Ba ck key one or m ore t im es t o rem ove
St rokes t o t he left . Once t he St roke Area is
em pt y, pressing t he Ba ck k ey r em oves
char act ers from t he Text Area.
Rapid Ch a ract e r Ent r y
Rapid char act er ent r y is easy in any m ode, using
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
char act ers, your phone predict s t he next
char act er you m ight want and present s choices
in t he Character Selection Map area. When a
desired char act er appears, you m ay select it as
described above.
I n m ost cases, you will see t he desir ed charact er
in t he Character Selection Map area before you
have enter ed all of t he Strokes t o build it .
