Ezi Pinyin M ode
Pinyin is a syst em t o m ark Chinese pronunciat ion
in Latin alphabet s. Wit h the pinyin input m et hod,
you can enter Chinese char act ers by keying in
the piny in st ring fr om t he phone keypad and the
phone aut om at ically presents t he m at ching
alternat iv es.
Typin g Cha r a ct ers in Pin yin M ode
1. Press keys corresponding to t he phonet ic
spelling, referring to t he Rom an let t ers pr inted
on the keys. Not ice that t he choices in the
Charact er Selection Map change.
Ex a m ple : Typing 力 in Pinyin m ode
1.To find the candidat es for the key presses in
the Pinyin Area, pr ess the < Navigat ion
Right> key.
Tom ove back, press< Navigat ion Left > key.
2. I f you cannot find t he char act er you want ,
press t he < Navigat ion Dow n> key t o scroll
through choices in t he Charact er Select ion m ap.
To m ove back, press t he < Navigation Up> key.
When t he char act er you ar e t yping appears in
the Char act er Select ion Map, you m ay select
it , wit hout com plet ing the Pinyin spelling for
the charact er .
3. To select a charact er, press t he 1 key t o
activat e t he Charact er Select ion Map.
A num ber (1 t o 6) is added above a
corresponding charact er.
4. Wit h t he Charact er Select ion Map being
activat ed, a norm al press on t he 1 key t o t he
6 key select s the corresponding charact er.
5. Repeat st eps 1 t o 4 t o enter m ore charact ers
as requir ed.
To insert a space, press the 0 key.
Scr olling t h r ough the Alt ernat ive Pinyin
or Charact ers
• The < or > key scrolls t o alt ernat ive pinyin
st rings for t he keypresses.
• The < Navigation Up> or < Navigat ion Down>
key scrolls t o t he alt ernat ive char act ers
corresponding the entered pinyin spelling.
Clea r ing Pinyin Spelling and Chara ct ers
Press t he Ba ck soft key one or m ore t im es t o
rem ove pinyin spelling to t he left . Once t he Pinyin
Area is em pt y, pressing the Ba ck soft key
rem oves charact er s fr om t he Text Area.
Rapid Ch a ract e r Ent r y
Rapid char act er ent r y is easy in any m ode, using
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
char act ers, your phone predict s t he next
char act er you m ight want and present s choices
in t he Character Selection Map area. When a
desired charact er appears, you m ay select it as
described on [ ] .
For exam ple, when you type the word “ zhong
guo (中國 ) ” , if y ou ent er t he first charact er
using t he following k eySt rokes; 9, 4, 6, 6, 4, 1,
1, you do not have t o com plet e the Pinyin
spelling t o include “ guo ( 國) ” . Wit h no ext ra
typing, t he let t er is displayed convenient ly in the
Charact er Selection Map for you t o choose.
