Ezi St rok e Mode
This m ode allows y ou t o ent er individual Chinese
st rokes, in w rit t en order - from t op t o bot t om ,
and fr om left t o right.
Even t hough there are m any different st rokes
used t o create Chinese charact ers, the strokes
are classified int o 5 basic cat egories; heng, shu,
pie, dian and zhe. The basic st rokes are printed
on the keypad, on keys 7 t o 0.
To enter a st roke, press t he key print ed wit h t he
st roke t hat m ost closely repr esent s t he exact
st roke you desir e. The t able shows t he
st roke/ key relat ionship:

Mode
1. To t y pe a char act er, pr ess keys corr esponding
to it s com ponent st rokes. Press keys on t he
handset in the order t hat you w ould writ e the
st rokes, using one press per desired stroke.

2. The phone displays your st rokes in the Key
St roke Ar ea and offer s charact er choices in
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
st rokes, notice t hat t he choices in t he Charact er
Select ion Map change. To scr oll through choices
in t he Charact er Select ion Map, press
the< Navigat ion Dow n> key . (To m ove back,
press < Navigation Up > key.)
3. When t he char act er you are t yping appears in
the Char act er Select ion Map, you m ay select it
wit hout finishing t he st roke sequence for the
char act er. Charact ers displayed in t he Character
Select ion Map cor respond t o keys 1 t o 6 on t he
keypad. To select a charact er from t he Charact er
Select ion Map and add it t o your m essage, press
the corresponding key.

Scr olling
• The < Navigat ion Up> or < Navigation Dow n>
key scrolls t o t he alt ernat ive charact ers
corresponding t he enter ed pinyin spelling.
• The < or > key m ov es t he cursor left or right
in Text area.
Clea r ing St r ok e s a nd Char a ct ers
Press t he Ba ck k ey one or m or e t im es t o rem ove
st rokes to t he left . Once t he Stroke Area is em pty,
pressing t he Ba ck key rem oves characters from
the Text Area.
Rapid Ch a ract e r Ent ry
Rapid charact er ent ry is easy in any m ode, using
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
char act ers, y our phone predict s t he next
char act er you m ight w ant and pr esent s choices
in t he Charact er Select ion Map ar ea. When a
desired char act er appears, you m ay select it as
described above.
I n m ost cases, you will see the desired char act er
in t he Charact er Select ion Map ar ea befor e you
have enter ed all of t he st rokes t o build it.
