Ezi Pinyin Mode
Pinyin is a syst em to m ark Chinese pronunciat ion
in Lat in alphabet s. With t he pinyin input m et hod,
you can enter Chinese char act ers by key ing in
the pinyin st ring from t he phone keypad and t he
phone aut om at ically present s t he m atching
alternat ives.
Typin g Cha r act e r s in Pin yin M ode
1. Press keys corresponding to t he phonet ic
spelling, referring to t he Rom an let t ers pr inted
on the keys. Not ice that t he choices in t he
Charact er Select ion Map change.
Ex a m ple : Typing 力 in Piny in m ode
1.To find the candidates for the keypr esses in
the Pinyin Area, press the < Navigat ion
Right> key.
Tom ove back, pr ess< Navigation Left > key .
2. I f you cannot find the charact er you want,
press t he < Navigation Dow n> key t o scroll
through choices in t he Charact er Select ion m ap.
To m ove back, press t he < Navigat ion Up> key.
When t he char act er you are t yping appears in
the Char act er Select ion Map, you m ay select
it , without com plet ing t he Pinyin spelling for
the charact er.
3. To select a charact er, press t he 1 key to
activat e t he Charact er Select ion Map.
A num ber (1 t o 6) is added above a
corresponding charact er.
4. Wit h the Char act er Select ion Map being
activat ed, a norm al press on the 1 key t o the
6 key select s the corresponding charact er.
5. Repeat st eps 1 t o 4 to ent er m ore charact ers
as required.
To insert a space, press t he 0 key .
Scr olling t h r ough the Alt ernat ive Pin yin
or Charact ers
• The < or > key scrolls to alt er nat ive pinyin
st rings for t he keypresses.
• The < Navigat ion Up> or < Navigat ion Down>
key scrolls t o t he alt ernat ive charact ers
corresponding t he enter ed pinyin spelling.
Clea r ing Pin yin Spelling and Chara ct ers
Press t he Ba ck soft key one or m ore t im es t o
rem ove pinyin spelling to t he left . Once t he Pinyin
Area is em pty, pressing t he Back soft key
rem oves charact er s from the Text Area.
Rapid Ch a ract e r Ent ry
Rapid charact er ent ry is easy in any m ode, using
the Char act er Select ion Map. As you ent er
char act ers, y our phone predict s t he next
char act er you m ight w ant and pr esent s choices
in t he Charact er Select ion Map ar ea. When a
desired char act er appears, you m ay select it as
described on [ ] .
For exam ple, when you t ype t he wor d “ zhong
guo (中國 ) ” , if you ent er t he first charact er
using t he following keyst rokes; 9, 4, 6, 6, 4, 1,
1, you do not have to com plet e t he Piny in
spelling t o include “ guo (國) ” . Wit h no ex t ra
typing, t he let t er is displayed convenient ly in t he
Charact er Select ion Map for you t o choose.
