We will need to create a static IP address for the computer on the network.
To do this, select the General tab, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.
You should now see the following screen. In this screen, select “Use the Following IP address, and
enter a unique IP address for the computer running the FTP server. In this example we have used
192.168.0.40 which will be the IP address which identifies the PC to the network. When selecting an IP
address for the computer ensure that it is outside the range of addresses specified in the IP address
pool of your router. The Subnet mask should be set to 255.255.255.0 as the only number range in the
IP address that is going to alter is the last set of numbers. The Default Gateway should be set to your
router’s IP address; in this case the Belkin router’s address is 192.168.2.1. Nothing needs changing
under “Advanced” so leave that as is. If you have an internet connection attached to your router, leave
the DNS servers as they are, if you don’t have an internet connection attached to your router, leave the
DNS server entries blank.
If these settings are already filled in, take a note of what they are and leave as is. You will need these
settings to enter into the WFT-E1A later.
Click on OK to return to the Local Area Connection Properties screen.
